21-Day Mindful Fasting Challenge

In the past, I have tried and failed again and again to maintain Alternate Day Fasting. I love the concept and the way it makes me feel. I have a lot less pain, loads of energy, and it makes life simpler. You eat one day, and then skip the next. Rinse and repeat. Doing this gives you a 36-hour fast. Sounds simple enough until I get to around 4pm on the fasting day, and excuses flood my mind: it’s raining and cold, my stomach’s rumbling, and so on. Sometimes I ignore my mind and push through, but lately, I seem to give in more often than not. It’s disheartening, and I feel like I’m constantly failing. But maybe I’m just setting the bar too high for this stage in my life?

Which brings me to my challenge: 21 days of mindful fasting. This is my non-action challenge in that I don’t do something (eat).

My aims for this challenge are:

* 20 hours of fasting every other day. (I use the Easy Fast app to keep track).

* Pay careful attention to macronutrients, especially protein and fibre intake. I’m aiming for 80g of protein per day, which I seem to reach when I finish the day with a vegan protein smoothie.
